Blacksmith Conference, Antique Gas Engine Reunion to Be Held in January
The second annual Texas Blacksmith Conference & the Hume L. Baker Texas Antique Gas Engine Reunion will be held Jan. 28-29 at the Center’s Village grounds. Heritage musical entertainment by Celtaire and The Harfmanns has been added to make the event even better!
There are many shows geared towards antique tractors, but none that are solely for the interest of the antique stationary engine collectors - until now! The farm shows in Texas have seen a decline in the past years in engine displays. This show is sure to help fuel up the interest in this educational hobby. The South Texas Wheel Spinners & Crank Twisters Club is the hosting club for this show.
The Blacksmith Conference had been held in College Station. The Texas Trio Group came together last year to revive this event and, like the engines, fire up interest in this amazing art! They chose to come to La Grange to use the TCHCC Village, partnering with the STWSCT Club, for a new event that definitely sparked interest for all generations!
The proceeds from this event will benefit the future TCHCC Blacksmith Shop construction in the Village. The shop will help future generations learn about trades that were very important to the life of a farm, and the community, in the early days of Texas settlements. The shop will be a working museum and host events throughout the year.
