Kalich House & Czech Music Museum of Texas
Kalich House & Czech Music Museum of Texas
Celebrate the rich musical heritage of Czech Texans at the Kalich House and Czech Music Museum. This historic 1890s Texas‑Czech farmhouse, moved to the site on June 22, 2000, was lovingly restored and first transformed into the visitor center, temporarily housing the office, gift shop, library, and display area until the main building was completed in 2009.
Today, it has been reimagined as the Czech Music Museum, showcasing four vibrant genres of Czech music—Classical, Spiritual/Liturgical, Folk, and Polka/Czech Brass—honoring both the everyday life once lived within its walls and the enduring sounds of Czech Texan culture.
Explore rooms filled with instruments, costumes, and memorabilia that tell the story of music as a vital thread in the cultural fabric of Czech-Texan life. The museum highlights how music has been a source of joy, identity, and community connection for generations.
Whether you’re a music lover or curious about cultural history, the Kalich House invites you to experience the melodies that have shaped a proud heritage.
